It's important for me that the viewer penetrate the form, to go down inside the piece where it is darker and mysterious, like one's subconscious. I liken it to navigating the furrows of our mind.

I create my pieces over a convex mold shape, which is removed after the drying process, leaving a hollow containment and the structural expanse grows from this void. The clay is laid in strips, forming intersecting layers of patterns, then pinched to form gestural fins and ripples. The glazes make the bone-dry surface look soft, crusty and sometimes wet.
